The most common antidepressants to buy online are

Anafranil - Clomipramine hydrochloride. Anafranil, a chemical cousin of tricyclic antidepressant medications such as Tofranil and Elavil, is used to treat people who suffer from obsessions and compulsions. An obsession is a persistent, disturbing idea, image, or urge that keeps coming to mind despite the person's efforts to ignore or forget it for example, a preoccupation with avoiding contamination. A compulsion is an irrational action that the person knows is senseless but feels driven to repeat again and again - for example, hand-washing perhaps dozens or even scores of times throughout the day.

Atarax - Vistaril - Hydroxyzine hydrochloride. Atarax is an antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of common anxiety and tension and, in combination with other medications, to treat anxiety that results from physical illness. It also relieves itching from allergic reactions and can be used as a sedative before and after general anesthesia.

Aricept - Donepezil hydrochloride. Aricept is one of the few drugs that can provide some relief from the symptoms of early Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's disease causes physical changes in the brain that disrupt the flow of information and interfere with memory, thinking, and behavior. Aricept can temporarily improve brain function in some Alzheimer's sufferers, although it does not halt the progress of the underlying disease.

Celexa - Citalopram. Celexa is used to treat major depression, a stubbornly low mood that persists nearly every day for at least 2 weeks and interferes with everyday living. Symptoms may include loss of interest in your usual activities, insomnia or excessive sleeping, a change in weight or appetite, constant fidgeting or a slowdown in movement, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, difficulty thinking or concentrating, and repeated thoughts of suicide.

Cipralex - Escitalopram - Cipralex is used to treat depression. Cipralex is in a class of antidepressants (mood elevators) called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by increasing the amount of serotonin, a natural substance in the brain that helps maintain mental balance.

Effexor - Venlafaxine - Effexor is prescribed for the treatment of depression - that is, a continuing depression that interferes with daily functioning. The symptoms usually include changes in appetite, sleep habits, and mind/body coordination, decreased sex drive, increased fatigue, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, difficulty concentrating, slowed thinking, and suicidal thoughts.

Lithium - Carbolith Plenur - Plenur. Lithium is used to treat the manic episodes of manic-depressive illness, a condition in which a person's mood swings from depression to excessive excitement.

Prozac - Fluoxetine. Prozac is prescribed for the treatment of depression that is, a continuing depression that interferes with daily functioning. The symptoms of major depression often include changes in appetite, sleep habits, and mind / body coordination; decreased sex drive; increased fatigue; feelings of guilt or worthlessness; difficulty concentrating; slowed thinking; and suicidal thoughts. Prozac is also prescribed to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder. An obsession is a thought that won't go away; a compulsion is an action done over and over to relieve anxiety. Prozac is also used in the treatment of bulimia (binge-eating followed by deliberate vomiting). Prozac has also been used to treat other eating disorders and obesity. In addition, Prozac is used to treat panic disorder, including panic associated with agoraphobia (a severe fear of being in crowds or public places).

Remeron - Mirtazapine - Mirtazapina. Remeron is prescribed for the treatment of major depression- that is, a continuous depressed mood that interferes with everyday life. The symptoms of major depression often include changes in appetite and weight, difficulty sleeping, loss of interest in pleasurable activities, constant fidgeting or a slowdown in movement, fatigue, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, difficulty concentrating, slowed thinking, and suicidal thoughts.

Seroquel - Quetiapine - Seroquel combats the symptoms of schizophrenia, a mental disorder marked by delusions, hallucinations, disrupted thinking, and loss of contact with reality. It is the first in a new class of antipsychotic medications. Researchers believe that it works by diminishing the action of dopamine and serotonin, two of the brain's chief chemical messengers.

Zoloft - Sertralina Bexal - Sertraline. Zoloft is prescribed for major depressive disorder—a persistently low mood that interferes with everyday living. Symptoms may include loss of interest in your usual activities, disturbed sleep, change in appetite, constant fidgeting or lethargic movement, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, difficulty thinking or concentrating, and recurrent thoughts of suicide. Zoloft can also be used for the type of depression called premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). In addition, Zoloft is used in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder symptoms of which include unwanted thoughts that won't go away and an irresistible urge to keep repeating certain actions, such as hand-washing or counting.

Zyprexa - Olanzapine. Zyprexa helps manage symptoms of schizophrenia, the manic phase of manic-depression, and other psychotic disorders. It is thought to work by opposing the action of serotonin and dopamine, two of the brain's major chemical messengers. The drug is available as Zyprexa tablets and Zyprexa Zydis, which dissolves rapidly with or without liquid.

Antidepressants are typically psychiatric medications taken to alleviate clinical depression, but also in cases of other illnesses such as anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and chronic pain. Somewhere close to 10% of women and 5% of men in the western world use antidepressants on a regular basis, and these numbers are increasing.

Exactly how antidepressants work to treat depression is still somewhat speculative. We know that antidepressants can influence brain activity through the effects they have on mood-related brain chemicals called neurotransmitters, and certain nerve cell receptors. Nerve cells release neurotransmitters to communicate with other nerve cells in the brain. Neurotransmitters transmit signals across a synapse between the nerve cells.

Neurotransmitters associated with depression are serotonin, norepinephrine and possibly dopamine. Research indicates that people with depression have lower levels of one or more of these neurotransmitters.

Nerve cells send a signal and then reabsorb the neurotransmitters after they have communicated with other nerve cells. Antidepressants interfere with this reuptake, the result of which is a greater quantity of a particular neurotransmitter remaining in the synapse, which can change the activity of certain nerve cells and influence brain activity. Maintaining a higher level of neurotransmitters improves neurotransmission which, in turn, improves your mood.

Additionally, a type of antidepressant called tetracyclic antidepressants are thought to work by preventing neurotransmitters from binding with certain nerve cell receptors. This indirectly increases the levels of norepinephrine and serotonin in your brain.
Finding the right antidepressant for you may take time.

Each medication has its own pros and cons, and until you try one you will not know how it might affect you or how well it will work. You may need to try several antidepressants before finding the one, or the combination, that is most effective for you, and causes the fewest side effects.

The most popular and proven kinds of antidepressants currently available are:

SSRIs, or selective serotonin uptake inhibitors - a group of antidepressants that includes drugs such as escitalopram (Lexapro) citalopram (Celexa), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil) and sertraline (Zoloft). Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors act only on the neurotransmitter serotonin, while tricyclic antidepressants and MAO inhibitors act on both serotonin and another neurotransmitter, norepinephrine, and may also interact with other chemicals throughout the body.

Tricyclics have been successfully used to treat depression for a long time. They act on both serotonin and another neurotransmitter, norepinephrine, and may also interact with other chemicals throughout the body. They include amitriptyline (Elavil), desipramine (Norpramin), imipramine (Tofranil) and nortriptyline (Aventyl, Pamelor).

Other antidepressants are available that have different ways of working than SSRIs and tricylics. Commonly used examples are venlafaxine, nefazadone, bupropion, mirtazapine and trazodone. Less commonly used are the monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), which act by blocking the breakdown of excitatory neurotransmitters, mainly serotonin and noradrenaline.
Between 30 and 50% of people who are treated with an antidepressant for the first time show no signs of improvement. In this case it is recommended to try a different kind of antidepressant, as this ‘trial and error’ approach often provides results.

Most antidepressants are not addictive in the sense of say nicotine or caffeine, or other stimulants, but they can cause a dependency through patients becoming overly-fond of the euphoric feeling their antidepressants give them. It is therefore recommended to reduce dosage over a long period of time when attempting to come off a course of antidepressant medication.
Antidepressant drugs are also frequently prescribed to treat a variety of other illnesses, including dysthymia, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), anxiety disorders, bulimia, ADHD, autism and others, as well as to help quit smoking.

Alcohol consumption is not recommended whilst taking a course of antidepressants. Also drugs that affect the liver may increase the levels of antidepressants in the system to dangerous proportions. Smoking may inhibit the action of some antidepressants.
